Annie Sloan Chalk Paints at Beckett Interiors

I’m anything BUT a DIY kinda gal. Living in Bahrain for almost 18 years will do that to you. However I’ve definitely gone a little ‘arts and crafts’ lately, thanks to Annie Sloan Chalk Paints and the Beckett Interiors boys, and I must say – I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

One of the reasons why it’s been so fun is because of the simplicity of the whole Annie Sloan painting process. No preparation required – just paint straight on to almost any surface, and it’s dry within minutes. The chalk paint may be sealed with either clear or dark wax depending on the look you’re after, followed by a quick buff, and you’re done. Oh, it’s non-toxic as well, making it safe to use around curious little people or pets.

Another reason is the beauty of the chalk paint itself. Every one of the 33 colours is simply stunning, and can be mixed to create new colours, thinned out with water to create different effects, adorned with gold leaf or decoupage, sanded with superfine sand paper to achieve a glossy finish…the possibilities are endless.

And of course, there’s Mohamed and Jamie of Beckett Interiors. The stockists of Annie Sloan, and the hosts of the two-day workshop that taught me everything I know. They’re both super sweet and completely creative, and I can’t think of two better ambassadors for the brand.
